Virginia Beach Striper fishing charters

We have really had some gorgeous weather lately here in Virginia Beach and been doing a lot of fishing. Most of our fishing efforts are targeted at striped bass fishing in the chesapeake bay with live baits and we have been having very good success recently. There are lots of schoolie sized rockfish up there as well as some really nice trophy sized stripers. This week we had some really nice catches of striped bass and whenever the weather is nice, we look forward to getting you out there to get in on the action. We are currently booking full day inshore only for stripers out of rudee inlet. The fish are far away and we cannot get to where the fish are on a half or 3/4 day. Sorry Ocean rockfish will be here soon, so we should have some action in January after the bay season closes. Give me a call at 757-749-6008 and we will get you booked. Thanks, capt Jake

Striped bass charter fishing in VA beach

Rockfish season is here! Matador Charters is currently running inshore striped bass fishing charters from rudee inlet in Virginia Beach. The fishing so far for stripers has been great. We are seeing plenty of schoolie sized stripers in the chesapeake bay and some of the trophy sized striped bass are beginning to show up in the lower chesapeake bay. Yesterday matador charters did a full day inshore trolling trip for schoolie sized stripers and caught over 50 stripers, keeping 10 nice ones for the grill. This fishing is really great fun fishing with plenty of action everyone gets to catch a bunch of fish. Striper season in the bay should continue to improve daily and we have plenty of dates available for charter.

Also, for full day inshore fishing, we are seeing great fishing on the wrecks for sea bass, tautog, flounder, and bluefish. Wreck fishing charters have been doing very well recently.

Offshore, trolling in the gulf stream has still been producing catches of yellowfin tuna and mahi mahi, with sharks and swordfish available on overnight trips offshore fishing charters.

Deep drop charters have been very productive for sea bass, tilefish, grouper, and wreckfish.

Speckled trout, bluefish, and stripers continue to bite in the inlets.

Bluefin tuna fishing is right around the corner in Virginia Beach and they could make a showing at any time.

Matador charters has plenty of charter fishing trips available from Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach. Give me a call at 757-749-6008 and we wil get your charter fishing trip booked. Thanks, Capt Jake

Virginia Beach Charter Fishing Fall Update

Its fall now. Its the time of year when all the kids have gone back to school. Summer vacation is over. Everyone is hard at work. The weather is getting cooler. But the fall is also one of the best times of year to take a charter fishing trip out of Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach. We have lots of fish around to catch right now and the fishing can be very good this time of year, both for our inshore fishing charters and our offshore fishing charters.

Offshore fishing charters are seeing really great action from wahoo and dolphin right now as well as some yellowfin tuna. There is still plenty of warm water in our offshore waters here and we are still seeing a handful of marlin around. The tuna fishing for yellowfin tuna should improve with each passing cold front and as warm water eddies begin to spin off the gulf stream we should see some really great fall yellowfin tuna fishing out of Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach. Bluefin tuna can also begin to make an appearance any time now, but the best bite for bluefins should start in a couple weeks.

Offshore deep drop fishing charters can also be very productive in the fall. We have plenty of blueline tilefish, golden tilefish, grouper, rosefish, and black sea bass season just opened yesterday. If you want a box full of fish that are good to eat and plenty of action cranking fish all day, deep drop fishing charters are the ticket.

Inshore fishing is also excellent this time of year. On the wrecks we can find flounder, tautog, black sea bass, triggerfish, and even some chopper bluefish on full day inshore fishing charters. Also on full day inshore fishing charters there are plenty of red drum in the bay. there are also some flounder and tautog. Our half day inshore trips are still catching bluefish off the Virginia beach oceanfront and we are seeing plenty of speckled trout, some puppy drum, and flounder around rudee inlet. Striped bass aka rockfish aka stripers are in season and as the waters cool, stripers should show up any time.

We have PLENTY of dates available for inshore and offshore fishing charters out of Virginia Beach. We are also currently booking charters for the summer of 2016 from rudee inlet in Virginia Beach. Give me a call at 7577496008 and we will get your charter fishing trip booked. Thanks, capt. Jake

half day inshore fishing charters in Virginia Beach

August is here and charter fishing in Virginia Beach is red hot right now. Whether its inshore fishing charters or offshore gulf stream sport fishing charters out of Rudee inlet in Virginia Beach, there is plenty to catch with Matador Charters.

Inshore, we are running plenty of inshore fishing charters from Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach. trolling the inshore waters off the Virginia Beach resort strip continues to yield good numbers of spanish mackerel and bluefish. We have also seen a fair amount of nice cobia and we should see numbers of cobia increasing as they begin to migrate out of the chesapeake bay as fall gets here. There have also been some encounters with red drum and king mackerel in the waters off the sandbridge area off Virginia Beach. Spadefish have started biting again, so we have good numbers of them available. We also have the usual summer fishing off Virginia Beach for flounder, sea bass, triggerfish, sheepshead, spot and croaker.

Shark fishing remains very good for our shark fishing charters in Virginia Beach. We have had very good luck with the sharks this year and though most of the shark fishing is all catch and release, our charters really enjoy catching sharks and kids really love to see the sharks. Most of the sharks we catch are on the smaller side, however, from time to time we still catch a really huge one. We have caught lots of blacktip sharks, some hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, sandbar sharks, bull sharks, sand tiger sharks, dusky sharks, and even released a great white shark earlier this summer. It has been a really good summer for shark fishing in Virginia Beach and that should continue.

There is plenty of time and we still have plenty of availability to get out on a charter fishing trip and get in on the action out of Virginia Beach. We are currently booking inshore charters, half day charters, offshore charters, deep drop charters, and of course shark fishing charters. Give me a call today at 7577496008 and we will get you all set up for you charter fishing trip. Thanks, Capt. Jake

Virginia Beach inshore charter boat fishing report

Here in Virginia Beach we are in the midst of summer, at the height of tourist season and we are doing charter fishing trips. The fishing is really great right now and we have a lot going on. On our inshore fishing trips, we are finding lots of sharks. Everyone wants to see a shark right now because of the recent shark attacks, and we are catching PLENTY of sharks, some really big ones too. We are also seeing some cobias on our inshore fishing charters and spanish mackerel and bluefish continue to be abundant. I'm sure theres plenty of other things to fish for, however this is what he have been targeting and catching consistently.

Offshore, there are all sorts of things going on for our gulf stream fishing charters. Bluefin tuna have shown up in the shallow waters and there are some 100 pound class bluefins being caught. There are also plenty of mahi mahi moving in very close to the beach and there have been some reports of billfish in very shallow water very close to the beach, but none caught yet. We are also seeing some blue marlin, white marlin, yellowfin tuna, and bigeye tuna around the canyons. Amberjack are also all over the southern towers.

Deep drop fishing continues to be good and we are seeing really good catches of blueline tilefish, some nice black sea bass mixed in, golden tiles, blackbelly rosefish, barrelfish, and wreckfish on the bottom in the deep out near the canyon.

We are booking for all kinds of charter fishing trips, inshore half day fishing trips with the family, full day inshore shark fishing trips, offshore and gulf stream charters, deep drop fishing trips, whatever kind of sport fishing trip you want to do, we have something available and can get you out there. Give me a call at 7577496008 and we will get you booked.

Here are a couple photos from todays inshore fishing trip. We had a couple big sand tiger sharks, a nice catch of spanish mackerel, and this big old fat cobia.
