Happy holidays from Matador Charters

Over the last couple weeks it has been very windy and we are watching the wind blow most days and decided now was a good time to do some repairs and upgrades to the boat before the heart of striper season gets here. Right now as a big storm is passing by and most days are too rough to fish, we are doing a motor swap-out and putting a fresh new pair of powerful fuel efficient digital cummins diesel motors in. We will be finished with the upgrade in a couple days and will soon be ready for the incoming striped bass as they make their way down the coast to their wintering grounds directly off the coast of virginia beach. It wont be long until the rockfish are right out front of rudee inlet and we are now booking charters for the 2015 rockfish season. Give me a call today at 757-749-6008 if you want to book your virginia beach striper charter or if you have questions about booking your summer 2015 inshore or offshore virginia beach charter trip. Thanks, and happy holidays, capt. Jake

BIG Rockfish Arriving Daily

Now that its december, it is time to catch STRIPERS. For the last couple weeks we have seen rockfish numbers increasing and the fishing getting better with each passing day. Finally the big cow stripers are beginning to show and though we arent catching any huge numbers yet, we can consistently catch big stripers day after day by live bait fishing in the lower bay. There has also been some very good fishing for schoolie sized striper on light tackle by jigging at the bridge. Rockfish season is here and we have plenty of dates available for charter out of rudee inlet in Virginia Beach.

Though striped bass are getting most of the fishing attention right now, we still have several other options to catch fish in virginia. For our half day trips, there are some speckled trout and puppy drum around rudee inlet. Offshore fishing we have heard rumors of some bluefin tuna in the area but no one is targeting tunas here now so none have been caught. Tunas have been caught to our south and our north so there should be tunas here. Bottom fishing has found pretty good sea bass fishing on the wrecks as well as tautog and some flounder and deep drop fishing offshore has been pretty good for tilefish and some grouper, barrelfish, and rosefish.

We have plenty of dates available for charter out of rudee inlet in virginia beach. Give me a call at 757-749-6008 for booking. Thanks, capt Jake
